Crooked Town 03:36
CROOKED TOWN V1- Photos on the shelf crooked town out on the coast a crooked town The love you miss the most, skeletons of your old self in a crooked town PRE-CH - I've been waiting all this time I've been waiting all this time CHORUS – There’s a way you look at me Tells me all I need to know And there’s a way I talk to you Reminding you of someone you used to know better Baby it’s time to go from this place We call home V2- Burying bones we left alive Crooked path full of cemetery ghosts And skeleton roads Root down, your family's town With each year - your first step - it's harder to take From this crooked town

All Eyes 04:11
All Eyes V1 Hiding your hands And the nails you’ve been biting All the dirt left you scared to death C1 All I - I’m asking for All eyes - Turn away V2 Step nervous outside You look like you just started smoking Oh – oh Conscious of every breath C2 All I - I’m asking for All eyes - Turn away Bridge Sick of the demands Who’s on the list who shouldn’t be invited I’ll be the last car in line for your funeral C3 All I - I’m asking for All eyes - Turn away (x2) (The Forest Effect. Lyrics - E. Page)

Gun Metal Ride V1-     Right behind my brightest eyes In a cabinet made of blood and bone Thought I'd call up names to match the faces As if I filed my past away Thought I knew this sleepy hollow But I've never been all that organized CH-   Look back down the shoreline Seems to stretch a lifetime Tell yourself it’s alright Like a lost summertime It’s just a lost summertime V2-   She arched her back against the bar Down to her heel it’s forming a line She’s hoping the hills can offer her more She gets behind the wheel of her gun metal ride In Silver Lake she hides her past life Along the arc of a shooting star (The Forest Effect. Lyrics - E. Page)

City Walls 04:48
CITY WALLS V1 Baby you're not sitting this one out Not after suffering for all this time Baby let's set fire to the night V2 Hear us marching on DC lights Now there's nothing I shouldn’t say Let's burn it down in the light of the day CH Oh-oh The walls of the city alight I wanna see it shake Oh-oh, city walls Bend or you’re gonna break, like the last time I’m not holding my breath in We wanna see it shake, oh-oh V3 Fill the sky with your blackest of blues Now you're leaving your sick and yellow bruise We won't soon forget about you V4 Shining on with your darkest of lights You always seem to know when you’re right Show us someone who can galvanize

about

The Forest Effect's first release went through a long period of "digital fermentation" while the half-finished tunes sat neglected on a hard drive for years. Originally begun with Boston legend Paul Kolderie recording drums/bass at Camp Street Studios, Page and Kuris spent many a cold hour adding additional tracks at a CRS rehearsal space, but then hit the pause button. Something didn't smell right in there. Anyways. As Kuris/Page pivoted away from rehearsals with a rhythm section to focus more on recording, they revisited the Camp Street Sessions, liked what they heard, and decided it was time to finish. With Kolderie providing his mixing magic, the songs were finally printed and framed like photos on the shelf.

about

The Forest Effect Arlington, Massachusetts

Intentional / impactful Boston indie rock band led by vocalist/guitarist Elliot Page.
The music of The Forest Effect is an interplay of light and dark tones, like capturing the way the late-afternoon light filters through the layers of the forest. They’ve been described as “if the guys from Dismemberment Plan met up at Wilco’s loft to play some Pink Floyd and The Black Crowes covers.” ... more
